The Pearl is a fictional megatall skyscraper located in the city of Hong Kong, China. It was featured in the movie, “Skyscraper”, which was released in 2018, starring Dwayne Johnson. Located adjacent to Victoria Harbor, The Pearl was designed to reach 1,066 meters in height, which would make it the world's tallest building if it was real. The mega skyscraper has been described as "a marvel of modern engineering and architecture".
Construction of The Pearl took 7 years to undertake. Floors 0-95 consists of office space, whilst residential units occupy Floors 96-240. The lower floors consist of retailing units, restaurants and cinemas. A vertical park known as Jade Park spans 30 stories from Floor 100-130. High-speed elevators directly bring people to the observation deck dubbed the "Pearl". The skyscraper possesses wind turbines on the upper half to provide clean renewable energy.
In the events of the movie, The Pearl was the victim of a severe arson attack that charred the upper floors from Floor 96-250 by international terrorists due to the owner of the building possessing a tablet that contained evidence regarding money extortion undertaken during the construction. The subsequent fire was later exacerbated as hackers sabotage the skyscraper's fire suppression measures to render the upper floors impossible to access. By the end of the film the fire was extinguished with the anti-fire measures being restored and all of the terrorists that partook in the attack were killed. The owner of The Pearl states his intention to rebuild the Pearl, shown to have massive fire damage extending from the 96th floor to the roof.
